Judi “Uma” Maloy, began studying yoga seriously in 1995 while living in
Baltimore. She founded the Yoga Gallery of Healing Arts in 2002 serving as its
Director and then Co-Director until it’s closing in 2016. Judi is a (RYT) Registered
Yoga Alliance Teacher, a Certified Integral Yoga Instructor, a
Certified Mamaste Prenatal Instructor, and a Certified Yoga of the Heart Cardiac
and Cancer Instructor. Her continuing training has been very varied, studying
with Doug Keller, Erich Schiffmann, Nischala Joy Devi, Aadil Palkhivala, Swami
Ramananda, Roger Cole, Kausthub Desikachar, Felicity Green, David Frawley,
John Friend, Baxter Bell, Sianna Shermann, Mukunda Stiles, Leslie Kaminoff,
Cindy Dollar, Lillah Schwartz and Patricia Walden to name but a few. She has
combined these teachings to develop a style that focuses first on opening the
heart, followed by proper alignment principles, strength building, increasing
flexibility and reducing stress. Judi continues to take workshops whenever
possible to increase her knowledge in the physical, therapeutic and philosophical
aspects of yoga. She has traveled to India four times to gain a deeper
understanding of the yogic traditions.
